Doctor is a common nickname that can be used to describe anyone, regardless of whether they have an MD (medical doctor). However, those who are truly doctors (having an MD in their name) are physicians with extensive medical education and training. They practice in a variety of specialties, providing medical care to patients in hospitals, private practices, and other healthcare settings.

They communicate complex medical information in a clear and understandable manner, explaining treatment options and their associated risks and expected outcomes to help patients make informed decisions about their care. They also conduct research to advance medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes.

As the first Doctor on screen, William Hartnell established the character and brought a hint of mystery to the Time Lord. Although he was only in the role for 13 episodes before health issues forced him out, his performance is still regarded as one of the best.

Dapper, charming and with a love of Jelly Babies, Tom Baker was a huge hit with audiences when he took over the TARDIS for a seven-year run. He remained attached to the role after leaving the series, recording excellent audio adventures for Big Finish.
